André Jones Sets the Pace

André Jones, a senior on the varsity Cross Country (XC) team, started out running when he was in 7th grade. He discovered his passion for running and “stuck with it throughout High School.” Throughout his six years of running, his fastest 5k time is 16:51. On September 9th, 2017, at the Albert E. Dorner: Newport News Invitational Cross Country Meet, André ran a 17:01 5k.
Jones, who is pictured in the middle of the photo, strongly leads the hard-working Tabb boys to the finish line. Jones typically practices around five to six days a week, along with his teammates. The team practices every day after school, but the conditioning lasted all throughout the summer.
When asked what Jones plans on doing in the future, he responded, “I would like a degree in Mechanical Engineering. I also plan on running in college.” The XC Varsity team is working towards qualifying for the Region Championship and VHSL State Cross Country Championship. Tiger Times wishes them well!
