We Belong Week Recap
This week SHS students participated in a special We Belong schedule aimed at bringing together the community and allowing for some much needed time to lay back and spend time with friends. On Tuesday, Feb. 11, students enjoyed a special assembly dedicated to honoring Martin Luther King Jr. Performers from the Mizel Museum walked students through the life of the famous civil rights activist by reciting poetry, playing live music, singing ballads, and showing videos of King’s speeches. The performance was interactive, with students being instructed to sing along to familiar songs and clap to the beat of the music. Many students and teachers praised the performance’s message.
“This assembly was a fun and exciting way to celebrate courage, justice, equality, non-violence, and an opportunity to celebrate an important human being,” said SHS PE teacher Andrea Kubick. “Both the music and the message of this assembly was engaging in every way.”
“I loved it!” said junior Lyric Talley of the assembly.

On Wednesday, Feb. 12, students were given time to spend with the clubs they signed up for in the fall. The forty minute midday break offered a great opportunity for students to relax and connect with their peers.
